* With its sustainable design and undeniable BMW agility, here's an EV that's bound to change the way you think about driving. Using extremely strong yet lightweight Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) as its foundation, this vehicle is as innovative as the technology and renewable materials it's built with. In the standard yet sporty COMFORT mode, the range of the BMW i3 is 70 to 110 electric miles on a single charge, depending on driving style, traffic conditions and the topographical features of your route. In ECO PRO mode, which operates with an adapted accelerator pedal that demands less power, the possible distance traveled increases by up to 12%. The BMW i3 with Range Extender increases your electric driving range by up to 75 miles to eliminate range concerns. Via the BMW i Charging Station, the battery is fully charged in approximately 3.5 hours. The electric motor of the i3 was designed for instant power, delivering 170hp with a torque of 184 lb-ft. With the BMW i Remote App for iOS and Android, you can receive detailed information about the current status of your BMW i3 at any time. This includes, for example, range display, battery conditions and charge levels, service messages, and even the vehicle location. The new iDrive 4.2 Navigation System showcases an optimized menu display with state-of-the-art technologies, like advanced real-time traffic data. BMW apps let you access social networks, music plug-ins, and video playback through your iPhone as you see them on the vehicle's display screen. With BMW TeleService your i3 will continually monitor specific vehicle parts subject to wear and tear as well as needed services and transmit that data to a BMW service center for easy diagnosis. • i3 is very fun to drive in city traffic

This car is good for commuting or errands and very fun to drive. It is very fast taking off. The back seat is not really usable other than storage. The bluetooth phone is poor quality sound and the speakers are marginal for the price of the car. Overall, as long as you know what you're getting, if you're still interested I really like the car.

-bouncy ride, golf cart feel -skinny tires, tires are thin prone to flats, many reported-not for US roads -Tires do not last long, hev thin tread, costly replacement -no spare tire, you are flat, you wait for tow -software is buggy, numerous times to dealer for engine light warning -heater once broke -headlight once went out -not worth the price -over $2000 to insure/year -you will not find body shop that will fix carbon fiber damage in case of accident -ugly body shape, strange back-not like BMW
  • I currently own 2 BMW i3 vehicles

I used to own a Toyota Prius so the clean energy thing as always been my thing. I swore that if one day I was able of not consuming gasoline anymore I'd jump on that vehicle. I really had considered the Nissan Leaf but I hated its interior cabin. I was happy to see the BMW i3 at an automobile show before they were on sale. I now own 2 BMW i3 without the range extender. I drive around 65 miles on a daily basis. My wife and I are expecting our first born and nevertheless we got her an i3. The child seat fits perfectly and there's enough space in the trunk and hood for storage. I never bought the level 2 (220v) charger, I've been using the Level 1 (110v) charger that goes on any wall outlet. Since the vehicle regenerates by braking itself there is probably never going to be a need for brake pads or discs while I own the car. My tires are about almost ready to be replaced. There is no oil changes obviously and my service reminder says that on my second year I'll need to bring the car in for a Vehicle check (Basically it's a multipoint inspection). There is no money to be spent on maintenance if you skip on the range extender. Also, that small gasoline engine being offered can only go so fast, it adds weight and therefore takes away electrical range because of its existence. Don't get that option is my advice. Have I had my range anxiety scares? Sure I have. But it doesn't phase me into wanting to spend money on gasoline. Climate control offers a future in which if you leave to lunch everyday at 1:00pm then you can set it up to be nice and cold/warm inside your cabin. This is specially helpful here in South Florida where temperatures are hot all year long. My wife specially loves that feature. BMW will offer its customers BMW loaners when going on long trips, in case they don't offer that where you live then make up an excuse like your A/C smells and leave it in for service while you go on a road trip on BMW's loaners. By the way, public charging stations for the most part have built in wifi. I think a lot EV people don't realize this. If you don't have your chargepoint card on you then you can still activate a charging station with your Chargepoint app on Android or iOS. Hope this helps sorry for writing more of a blog then a review. I never do these. Electric Vehicles are the future!
